twilight waiting

Still working my way through sharing the pages created during Advent, although my heart this morning is holding vigil for the Holy Innocents.

The second photo is our labyrinth before re-blazing it last night. There is no filter on the photo, just nature’s twilight.

bless the space and step in

Just back from some wonderful days with old and new friends at the ELCA Greater Milwaukee Synod’s Fall Theological Conference. Pastor Sarah Ciavarri walked with us through Brené Brown’s “Daring Greatly” material. What does vulnerability look like in church leadership?

I am grateful for tears-shared, goosebumps-lifted, soulful moments, places and spaces of vulnerability that marked these days as good, very good.

The image holds notes from a talk by Grunewald Guild founder Liz Caemmerer as we were preparing for a labyrinth walk in community. Somehow this morning the essence of this image also touches vulnerability.

the golden thread

Curiously enough, our word clue comes from the old word clew, the name given to the gold thread that Ariadne gave to Theseus so he might find his way through–and back–from the heart of the labyrinth.  That thin string we follow into the darkness–our intuition, our hunches, our dreams–is our clew.

From now until the beginning of Lent, I’ll be sharing pages created while reading Phil Cousineau’s “The Art of Pilgrimage.” This journaling is in preparation for LEAD’s Peru Pilgrimage in June 2016. the moment of truth

…when the search for the real takes you to a place that pierces your heart.

~Phil Cousineau, The Art of Pilgrimage

It’s been my experience that the place where my heart is pierced hurts like crazy and offers a way into, step by step, some kind of new journey toward wholeness.

soles to Soul

Pilgrimage ~ “to get off the bus of life and put the soles of our feet to the soul of the world.”

~Phil Cousineau, The Art of Pilgrimage

Another recent vein in my journaling has been the sacred tool of labyrinths.  The labyrinths will appear again in Lent.  I guess it shouldn’t be surprising that they are also showing up in these pilgrimage pages.
